This blog was created to publish the work done by our community service team during this semester in The American School of Tampico. Here we will present descriptions, pictures, commentaries, and more about our proyect which helped cleaning the walls of our beautiful city, Tampico. We hope your enjoy!
This Service Learning project was very successful. I felt it was a very helpful project for our community because it made it look better. Even though at the beginning was hard and tedious, at the end I was very proud of the good work we did as a team.
Deciding what our service learning project was going to be was a hard job for us to do. When we finally agreed on something we decided that it was best if we painted walls with grafitti on them. I think this idea was great. We were helping our community and having fun at the same time. We could interact with people and see how glad they were when we offered to paint their painted walls. We worked together as a team and made a great job. This proyect was worth all of our time and efforts.
I think this service learning project was really succesfull. Painting walls with graffiti was a really good way to help our community. The organization and the fund raising were a hard job so we taught painting was going to be even harder. We did our best effort and the results were really good.
The service learning project we did came out succesfull. Painting to help our community was a really good idea for helping others. We made a really good job, it felt really good watching how people in the streets thanked us for our hard work. I think that our time and effort were the most important thing we needed to get this great result.
For Service learning my team and I had to create a project that benefited the community. We decided to choose a project were we could all have fun. Painting walls was not an easy job, but certainly a beneficial one. We experienced really nice moments with each other and with the people we helped. Every time I pass through one of the walls that were painted by us, I am a very proud citizen, proud of myself and proud of my community.
I think this project made all the team learn many things. We made several persons in our community happy, the streets looked better, and we learned to work together to get to our goal. It was not easy, we had to wake up early in the weekend´s mornings and work really hard so we did a good job in the people´s walls. All the effort was worth it because we realized what service learning really is,to think about others´ problems and try to make a change about them.
Service learning is about helping your community. Our team decided to help by painting over the graffitis. It was a really fun job to do but also significant and important for those people who live around the areas we painted. I felt proud of my group and myself for making Tampico look better.
I think during this semester we have accomplished much as a team. Even though we were a team with many members, we could do the amount of work so many people should have done. In my opinion this project has opened my mind and my partners as well because we learned the difficulties of painting in the sun, of peeling off old paint, and also collecting money for our materials. We were successful in many ways gratifying our community and ourselves as human beings.
I liked working on the project because this way we can appreciate Tampico in a prettier way. I don't like seeing it full of graffiti so that's why i liked doing this work. I enjoyed the experienced with my many friends and painting throughout different neighborhoods in my city.
This Community Service Project was very different from everything i have done for helping. Painting graffiti was a hard job that taught me about respect and respecting other people property. I'm very happy that i had the opportunity to make my town prettier and cleaner. Watching people reactions when they saw us painting made me feel good because they were very thankful.
The service learning project was really fun and I learned a lot from it. I learned that you always need to find a way to make your city look cleaner and nicer. I think we are on the quadrant of high service and high learning because we made Tampico look nicer by erasing graffiti , and we learned a lot from it .
I think this project was a very good idea because it helps everyone somehow, maybe people don’t even notice it, but is does make a change. Having clean walls in the streets is very important because it creates a clean and nice place to be. You wouldn’t like to be driving your car in a city with graffiti everywhere, clean walls make the city look better and it is also good for tourism because it gives them a good impression of our city.
This semester we succesfully developed great ideas for our service learning project. Not only developed them but took them in action. After the experience I passed of painting walls as a benefit for our city I see things differently. Now when I pass by one of those walls i feel proud of my self and of course the great team I had this semester. This is a proof that with just a small amount of time that you put you can do a lot of things and change your community. Dont wait for the world to change you can start by yourself and where you live!
This project was a great idea. It´s something I have always thought of as a great act of charity, and when I got invited to it, I took it as an opportunity to do what I've always thought of. I think the best one we did was the first one because it we didn't ask permition. I imagine the people from that school the next day how surprised they were and the great sensation they had probably felt. I think they felt very good, but I think we felt even better. It was something nice to do =) Hector.
During this project, I felt very good because I think it was a success. We went to paint several times and I had a great experience. Everyone in the neighbor where we went painting were very thanked and I think I really did a change in the community. Even though maybe many people didn´t even noticed, many people did. I think I am in the high service because every time I went to paint, I did my job and I completed my 15 hours of community service. I had lots of fun and I helped my community!
This project, made me feel very helpful with my community. In our times of work, I saw people living there very happy and they even came to tell us what a good job we were doing. Now I know, small people can make a big difference.

I enjoyed alot since the beginning the project. At first we baked cookies, and cakes, and then we sold them. With that money we help low resource people to buy paint, and this way help them to paint their walls which were full of graffiti. Many people think this project has no really sence, but really it has an important impact on Tampicos streets.
